Coinbase Considers Adding 30 New Crypto Assets to Its Exchange
Update, 12/7/18 18:00 UTC: Coinbase Pro announced support for Civic, District0x, Loom Network and Decentraland tokens in four hours. The order will remain in transfer-only mode for 48 hours, and customers will be able to deposit, but not withdraw, the token.
Over the past few months, after adding support for new tokens, Coinbase released more than 30 password assets under consideration for listing.
However, the San Francisco-based exchange posted on its blog Friday that it is not adding 31 tokens to the platform, but rather exploring the addition of assets. The tokens included in the list range from ERC-20 tokens to independent projects.
"We are taking the time to give our customers access to more than 90% of all compliant digital assets based on market cap.
However, there are some caveats. This post explains that the process of adding new tokens requires "critical navigation" both in terms of technical and legal compliance, and that the company can not guarantee that all named tokens will actually be added.
The post said:
"In addition, depending on our listing process, some assets may not be able to be remitted or received using local wallets to allow customers to buy and sell. Finally, we add new assets to our jurisdictions This allows us to add assets more efficiently and responsibly. "
Although the exchange may be listed on public APIs and other services before it is officially listed, Coinbase has warned customers that it can not determine when these assets will be offered.
Coinbase customers were able to see hints about previously added tokens. The bot was able to start trading at 0x minutes before it was officially listed using the Exchange API.
As another example, the user reported that zcash appears in the coin wallet app before being officially announced.
