Crypto Millionaire Lost 5,500 Bitcoins in Alleged Investment Scam
A millionaire with a 22-year-old monopoly on the alleged investment fraud in Thailand, which has become famous for the involvement of a Thai actress, has lost more than 5,500 beatcoos.
According to a media report in Bangkok, Thailand, in June 2017, a group of Thai people approached Aarni Otava Saarimaa, a Finnish businessman, to invest in Macau's Casino and Dragon Coin.
The group is promoting it at the time of publication, and Dragon Coin can be used in casinos, the report said. They also showed the legitimacy of the plan by bringing Saarimaa to the Macau casino. According to the report, Saarimaa has transferred a total of 5,564 bit coins to this group.
Saarimaa filed a complaint with the Thai Crime Suppression Department (CSD) with a local business partner who believes the investment plan was fraudulent in January.
CSD then began an investigation and claimed that the group had not invested in Saarimaa but liquidated all the beat coins in the Thai baht and deposited them in seven bank accounts.
CSD said it was unclear when it sold its Bitcoin assets, but fraudsters reported a profit of about 800 million baht or about $ 24 million.
And after a month's investigation, CSD suspected that Thai actor Jiratpisit "Boom" Jaravijit had been involved in the plan last Wednesday and arrested him.
CSD also argued that the actor's brother, Prinya Jaravijit, was suspected of being the "culprit" of a plan to leave Thailand for the United States through Korea. CSD is currently working with US authorities to track suspects, the report said.
