Vitalik Buterin Awarded Honorary Doctorate from University of Basel
Vitalik Buterin, creator of the ether, was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Basel.
Butterin, Dr. Vitalik, was admitted to the Department of Business and Economics on the development of the block chain at the Dies Academus (University Anniversary Celebration) on Friday.
Professor Aleksander Berentsen, professor of business, said: "Vitalik's block-chain innovation is a game changer.
In his presentation, the faculty announced that he would like to "be a creative and innovative thinker who played a decisive role in determining the digital revolution of our time."
In addition, Vitalik's research interests in game theory, economic incentives and governance are shared by faculty and innovative financial centers.
Vitalik said in the presentation:
"I received an honorary doctorate from the University of Basel, Switzerland's oldest university. Switzerland is renowned for its innovative block-chain research."
At the age of 19, Vitalik published an article entitled "Ethereum: Next Generation Smart Contract and Distributed Application Platform," which was identified as "a breakthrough for the decentralization of software applications."
Until now, his research has been published without an academic affiliation, not linked to universities.
The news comes as we are preparing a new upgrade, Etherereum 1x, which suggests that ethereum will extend the platform in the short to medium term.
